Dream Homes. Built. Right.

As craftsmen, we care about the small details.  Level floors, square corners, quality materials.  Unlike some contractors who stay in the office, we’re on the job site, making sure your dream home is constructed well and on time.  We can help you come up with house plans or work with your blueprints.  Then we take care of everything, from ordering materials to hiring and overseeing subcontractors.  When you hire Woodsmith, you can expect a beautiful, sound new home that meets your expectations.

Steps of Custom Home Construction

Project Review

First, we’ll meet with you to go over the plans of the project.  If you already have blueprints, we can use them.  If not, we can help you design your home and draw up the plans for you.  Once we understand the scope of the work, your financing is secure, and you’ve given your approval, we’ll move forward on making your dream home a reality.

Permits

We’ll handle getting necessary permits so that building can proceed.

Foundation

We’ll dig out the dirt to make room for the foundation. Then we install plumbing and pour the concrete. Once the foundation has cured we can move to the next step: framing.

Framing

Here’s where your home takes shape–literally. The framing provides the support, or framework, for the walls and roof, as well as ductwork and electrical wiring. This can include studs, panels, and bracing.

Roofing

The roof is important both for aesthetics and for protecting your home from the elements. There are a variety of shingle types you can choose from. We roof your home properly and quickly.

HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical

Before drywall (also know as Sheetrock) is installed, the plumbing, wiring and HVAC ductwork is laid. Some inspections may occur at this stage.

Wall Finishes

Now we place insulation and cover the interior and exterior walls. Drywall goes on the inside, attached to the studs, and is textured and painted. Bricks, stucco, or stone may cover the exterior.

Interior

With the walls and roof now finished, we can move to making the interior of your home beautiful. Doors and wood trim will go up. Countertops, cupboards and cabinets are installed. Carpets or wood flooring are laid and light fixtures added.
